Dr. Anita Chang is a senior postdoctoral research fellow with the Precision Livestock Management team at Central Queensland University.
In 2017, Anita completed a Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience (Hons I), majoring in Animal Production Science, at the University of Sydney and was awarded the Dean's List for Excellence in Academic Performance. More recently, Anita obtained a PhD in Precision Livestock Management from Central Queensland University. Her thesis, entitled "The remote, autonomous monitoring of calving and calf loss using on-animal sensing systems", provides a comprehensive guide for the development of a commercial calving detection device to improve productivity and animal welfare on-farm. Anita's thesis was shortlisted for the Outstanding Thesis Award (awarded in June 2022), with examiners indicating a body of work within the top 10% of the field.
Anita has expertise in advanced data analytics, livestock biomechanics and behaviour, and applied research in extensive grazing environments using precision technologies. Her research interests include the cow-calf relationship, social interactions between cattle, calving, and livestock behaviour.
