Poultry schedule is out here ... consisting of soft feather, hard feather, bantam and standard, plus there's a Field and Forest category which is Guinea fowl and turkeys. No ducks or geese. No horse breed classes. Horses In Action attracts some entries. No pig classes at this show, which cites the possibility of terrible diseases carried by pigs - yet bizarrely holds pig races, with, yes, live pigs, and have piglets which are, yes, real pigs, in an animal nursery. All our pig breeds are rare and need every bit of support possible, to prevent extinction. For a major show to ban them is unthinkable.
A show that's long lost its agricultural roots and long been wondering why less people go. However there are plenty of sideshows, amusement rides, fireworks and fast food stalls. Oh, and show bags.
